A collective vision for sustainability and encouraging selective collection

The objective of this scientific article is to analyze the problem of the incorrect disposal of recyclable waste, as well as to understand the culture of the population of the city of São Roque – SP and region regarding the separation of the waste they produce, seeking to understand what levels of Environmental Education these people possess. We used a data collection survey with questions regarding the daily habits of people in different regions of the city, and the Problematization Methodology focused on the disposal of recyclable waste. After receiving this information, it was concluded that the city has an introduction to Environmental Education but that there is still a gap; few neighborhoods have a designated collection system and the most common is to mix organic and recyclable garbage. Aiming to raise awareness and form new habits in citizens, easy-to-implement plans were developed so that each resident can do their part and with a collective vision encourage their environment to a search for quality of life and realistic sustainability.
